Nayoro Piyashiri Ski Resort

Located in the suburbs of Nayoro City, this ski resort has hosted the National Athletic Meet.
It takes about 10 minutes by car from Nayoro City, and there is also a 70-meter class ski jump.
When there were no summer jumps, this jump competition was recognized as the event that kicked off the skiing season in Hokkaido.

Three lifts take visitors to the top of the mountain.
There are several courses, some more than 2 km to the base.
There are many slopes, but the steep and medium slopes, as well as the steeper slopes at the bottom, attract many upper-intermediate skiers.
Of course, there are also slopes that beginners and families can enjoy.

The main selling point here is the excellent powder snow due to the cold weather.
All the big ski resorts in Hokkaido are cold when you go to the top, but Pyashiri is cold as a whole.
Therefore, on a cold, clear, windless day, you can see diamond dust, or sun pillar, where moisture in the air freezes.

There are hot springs, accommodations, and restaurants to take your time and enjoy.
When it is too cold, below -15°C, it is not recommended to ski early in the morning or late in the evening, as the skis will not glide well and your body will be cold, making it difficult to move.
In such cases, it is best to rest in the facilities and enjoy skiing while enjoying nature.
In addition, our ski resort allows backcountry skiing with notification.
Please be aware of the cold weather and make sure you are adequately equipped.
